Dear Reader…
Do you desire to restore hope to the lives of underprivileged young girls? Do you wish to put a smile on their face and give them the life they truly deserve?
If you desire this much as we do, this will be the perfect opportunity to do so.
Here’s one thing you should know…
Many underprivileged young girls in Ghana today have limited access to resources to meet their basic sanitary needs. Some lack the needed feminine hygiene supplies and the knowledge of how to use them, and as such, do not go to school.
It is globally recognized that 52% of the female population is of reproductive age. Menstruation is an integral and regular part of human life, indeed of human existence, and menstrual hygiene is fundamental to girls’ dignity and well-being and an essential part of the basic hygiene, sanitation, and reproductive health services to which every woman and girl has a right.
However, menstruation is often seen as a taboo and has many negative cultural attitudes associated with it, including the idea that menstruating women and girls are contaminated, dirty and impure. Menstruating girls are forced into seclusion, suffer reduced mobility and dietary restrictions, and can be prevented, through cultural norms, from participating in daily activities. Despite, or perhaps because of this, menstrual hygiene has been routinely ignored by professionals in the health and education sectors too.
Menstrual hygiene needs to be handled thoroughly. In the long run, this will give young girls the confidence to voice their need for better menstrual hygiene. Girls 4 Ghana Inc. comes in place to integrate policies and enhance these practices across the health and education sector. It may interest you to know we (as a nonprofit organization) strive to reduce poverty by providing basic needs and education to these young girls. Our participation is ongoing and expanding but requires funding through volunteers to enable us to get reusable cloth pads for these girls to get them back to school.
But first, there’s a little confession to make…
My name is Dina Amoo, and I created this nonprofit organization called Girls 4 Girls Ghana Inc. I was born in Ghana, West Africa. I came to the United States in 1998 after finishing high school, Ghana Secondary School at Koforidua, Ghana. I received a BSN from Elmhurst College and continued to obtain a Masters in Nursing Administration from Aurora University, United States. I started my nursing career at an acute care hospital, worked in many other areas and specialties in nursing and currently I am a clinical services nurse manager.
I started this charity organization because of personal experience growing up in Ghana and to help provide support to young, remote village young girls in Ghana by providing them undergarments, sanitary pads, and education on necessary self-care/STI.
Girls 4 Girls inc. is a nonprofit organization with the mission to provide help and hope for young girls in Ghana. We do this to help girls in underserved areas of Ghana stay in school all year round. We keep them safe by providing essential sanitary supplies and necessary self-education to help them make informed decisions as they enter puberty.
Here’s a fact! We are currently on an assignment to raise funds for our upcoming mission trip to Ghana in September. To accomplish this, we need supporters and donors to restore hope to these young girls’ lives. The goal is to sponsor each girl child with five reusable cloth pads a year, and the total five pads cost $5.10. Each reusable pad material costs a total of $1.02.
This means that when you donate $5.10, you purchase five reusable cloth pads a year for each girl child. So, below are the schools and the number of girls we hope to help on our next mission trip.

As a vital nonprofit organization, we help moderate the negative impacts of apathy and lack of available outreach services for underserved young Ghana women. We will ensure that every young girl’s hygiene is funded entirely through the voluntary support of people worldwide. This support will enable Girls 4 Girls Ghana Inc. to deliver on our mandate to fund girls reusable packs, help meet their basic needs and expand their opportunities to reach their full potential and go back to school.
